In late autumn, our School has hosted the Royal Institute Strathclyde Series of Masterclasses. These interactive and hands-on sessions drew keen and talented S3 pupils (around 13–14 years old) from local schools and ranged across topics from network theory through statistics, secret codes, fractals, prime numbers and geometry. Dr Andrew Wilson co-ordinated the Masterclasses and said the following:

"At the end of the six-session series, pupils left with certificates in hand, smiles on their faces and heads and hearts full of mathematical ideas. A massive thank you to everyone who has made these events a success over the past two months with their enthusiasm, time and support!

Sessions were led by Dr Kitty Meeks (Joining the dots and saving cows), Dr Charis Chanialidis (A World of Statistics), Dr Liberty Vittert (Riddles, logic, and secret codes), Dr Billy Woods (Chaos and fractals), Ms Angela Tabiri (Prime numbers and algorithms) and Dr Stephen Watson (The Topology, Geometry & Dynamics of Tilings, Foams and Nano-Crystals); support was provided by our tutors Danny Walker, Adam Conacher, Thomas Holmes and Eleanor Porte. The series would also not have been possible without the excellent administrative support of Ms Jean Jackson and the hard work of our School's janitor Mr Raymond Guffie!"
