Premiered as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, critics and audiences immediately acknowledged the significance of Knives in Hens as a remarkable and poetic play in and of itself, but also as part of a new wave of Scottish plays and Scottish playwrights that included David Greig, Stephen Greenhorn and Nicola McCartney.
