Following the fire which destroyed the Metropole Theatre in Stockwell Street, Alec Frutin purchased the Falcon Theatre and it opened once again on 15 November 1962 as the New Metropole with a traditional variety show called Scotland Calling.
Jimmy Logan bought the New Metropole Theatre, located in the St. George's Cross area of Glasgow, in 1964 from Frutin and changed its name to Jimmy Logan's Metropole Theatre. With the change in name, Logan also had the intention of providing the people of Glasgow with something new in entertainment, by bringing top quality shows and revues with star names. To some extent he succeeded, bringing the controversial London musical Hair to the theatre in 1970 where it stayed for ten months and was seen by 200,000 patrons. This production revived the fortunes of the theatre for a short time, but Logan was forced to close in 1972. The interior was damaged by fire in 1982, and in November 1987 the building was demolished.
