This collection consists of 369 letters dating from 1931 onwards, as well as some presscuttings and articles.
Gordon Bottomley, poet and playwright was born on 20 February 1874 at Eboracum Street, Keighley, Yorkshire. Educated at Keighley grammar school, he began work as a junior bank clerk. At eighteen the onset of a tubercular condition forced him to give up work and he spent long periods as an invalid.
An English poet and dramatist, his favoured genre was verse drama. His themes were taken from Celtic and northern legend.
He was president of the Scottish Community Drama Association and Vice President of the British Drama League.
Bottomley died at Martinscote, Oare Wilcot, near Marlborough, Wiltshire, on 25 August 1948.
