2395   But hyde thyn harm thou must Alone,
2396   And go forth sole, and make thy mone.
2397   Thou shalt no whyl be in oo stat,
2398   But whylom cold and whylom hat;
2399   Now reed as rose, now yelowe and fade.
2400   Such sorowe, I trowe, thou never hade;
2401   Cotidien, ne [yit] quarteyne,
2402   It is nat so ful of peyne.
2403   For ofte tymes it shal falle
2404   In love, among thy peynes Alle,
2405   That thou thy-self, al hoolly,
2406   Foryeten shalt so utterly,
2407   That many tymes thou shalt be
2408   Stille as an image of tree,
2409   Dom as a stoon, without stering
2410   Of foot or hond, without speking.
2411   Than, sone after al thy peyne,
2412   To memorie shalt thou come Ageyn,
2413   As man abasshed wondre sore,
2414   And after sighen more and more.
2415   For wit thou wel, withouten wene,
2416   In swich astat ful oft have been
2417   That have the yvel of love Assayd,
2418   Wher-through thou art so dismayd.
