And sighede sore in compleynyng.
Soore I compleyned that my sore
On me gan greven more and more.
I hadde noon hope of Allegeaunce;

Yf me a martir wolde he make,
I myght his power nought forsake.
And while for anger thus I woke,
The god of love an arowe toke;

That ony lover hym repente
To serve his love with herte and All,
ffor ony pill that may bifall.
But though this arwe was kene grounde
As ony rasour that is founde,

The god of love it hadde Anoynt
With a precious oynement,
Somdell to yeve a leggement
