1219   And she was symple as dowve of tree,
1220   fful debonaire of herte was she.
1221   She durst never seyn ne do
1222   But that that hir longed to.
1223   And if a man were in distresse,
1224   And for hir love in hevynesse,
1225   Hir herte wolde have full gret pite,
1226   She was so amiable and free.
1227   ffor were a man for hir bistadde,
1228   She wolde ben right sore Adradde
1229   That she dide over gret outrage,
1230   But she hym holpe his harme to Aswage;
1231   Hir thought it ell a vylanye.
1232   And she hadde on a sukkenye,
1233   That not of hempe ne heerdis was;
1234   So fair was noon in all Arras.
1235   Lord, it was ridled fetysly!
1236   Ther nas a poynt, trewly,
1237   Tha it nas in his right Assise.
1238   ffull wel clothed was ffraunchise;
1239   ffor ther is no cloth sittith bet
1240   On damysell, than doth roket.
1241   A womman wel more fetys is
1242   In roket than in cote, ywis.
