The Complete University Guide has recently published their annual rankings and has placed Sociology, based within the School of Social and Political Sciences, at number five in the UK for 2019. It was given an overall score of 95.5 out of 100, and is one place higher than last year, so a great achievement for the subject and the School.

Other areas within the School have performed strongly, appearing in the top 20 UK institutions and achieving impressive overall scores. The University has also done well in this year's rankings, rising three places from last year to number 24.

The measures for the Subject Tables are the same as for the main University League Table, except that only five measures are used: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards and Graduate Prospects.
