The Energy That Made Modern Scotland
The Energy That Made Modern Scotland explores how more than fifty years of oil and gas production, and the twenty-first century renewables revolution, have transformed Scotland. Join us to mark the launch of an exciting new podcast series by energy historian Ewan Gibbs and climate journalist and sociologist Dominic Hinde from the University of Glasgow. It features voices from the communities and workforces in Northern Scotland where these changes have been felt most and asks why Scotland's energy abundance hasn't made us a more prosperous society.
Ewan and Dom will be joined in conversation by Miriam Brett, the co-founder of the Future Economy Scotland thinktank who is originally from Shetland, and Linda Ross, a historian of the Dounreay nuclear site and energy infrastructure in the Highlands. The event will be chaired by Graeme MacDonald, a literary scholar who studies the ways in which oil has shaped Scottish culture.
This is a public event and all are welcome to attend.
