Joint EPSRC Network grant for SECURE with GES awarded to School

Prof Susan Waldron, of Geographical and Earth Sciences, and Prof Marian Scott have been awarded an EPSRC Network grant for SECURE - Forecasting Environmental Change: The Secure (Statistics of Environmental Change, Resources and Ecosystems) Network.

This involves more than 20 academic and non-academic partners staring in January 2015 and will last for 3 years.

Dr Duncan Lee awarded MRC grant

Dr Duncan Lee has been awarded an MRC grant entitled "A flexible class of Bayesian spatio-temporal models for cluster detection, trend estimation and forecasting of disease risk". The project starts in February 2015 and will develop statistical methodology and accompanying software to estimate the spatio-temporal pattern in disease risk.

Joint BHF Project Grant with MVLS awarded to School

Prof. Colin Berry from MVLS, Profs. Dirk Husmeier, Xiaoyu Luo, and Dr. Hao Gao have been awarded a British Heart Foundation Project Grant to work on "First steps towards computed modelling of myocardial infarction". The project will start in April 2015 and will last for 2 years.

Glasgow's High-Impact Pure Mathematician

Congratulations to Professor Jeff Webb, a retired member of the School, who has been named as Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher 2014 out of 99 named in Mathematics. Jeff is the only one in Scotland alongside just three others in UK. As a member of the Highly Cited Researcher list, Jeff is also included in the 2014 list of The World's Most Influential Scientific Minds. Congratulations Jeff!
