I gave a presentation at the Modern Studies in Property Law Conference and Association of Law, Property & Society Conference, both held at Queen's University Belfast. In these presentations I explored the tensions between the social, economic and environmental policy spheres which impact on water regulation in Scotland, and I proposed that collaboration and input from a broad range of voices is essential to reach the appropriate balance between competing interests. I suggested that creating a framework to balance these interests would not only be helpful for informing water rights reform but also other land use regulation questions both within and outwith Scotland.
