In early August, I coordinated a workshop on the topic of the Reform of Scottish Private Water Rights.

The event’s aim was to promote discussion amongst participants from a broad range of backgrounds, addressing the factors related to social justice, economic development and environmental protection that would impact on any water rights reform process. I opened the session with a talk entitled “Reform of Scottish Private Water Rights”. This was followed by Timothy Pitt (CMS Cameron McKenna) presenting on “Water: the Flow and Use of the Law in Practice”. The final talk of the day came from Ian Cowan (Highland Environmental Law) giving “An Environmental Lawyer’s Perspective”. The remainder of the day was dedicated to a roundtable conversation amongst the participants reflecting on issues raised by the speakers.
