The School of Law’s inaugural ‘The Future of Legal Education in Scotland’ conference took place on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th May. Hosted at the Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel, the event brought together academic and administrative university staff, law students and practitioners for a range of panel sessions covering topics including: access to the profession, the current curriculum, other jurisdictions and changing trainee expectations.   

Guest speakers included representatives from organisations such as: the Law Society of Ireland; the Law Society of Scotland; the Scottish Young Lawyers Association; the Scottish Solicitors’ Discipline Tribunal; University of Law; University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow 

The conference’s keynote speech was made by Ronald MacKay, Lord Eassie, and closing remarks were delivered by the Head of School, Professor Jane Mair, and the Director and Deputy Director of the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at Glasgow, Kerry Trewern and Rhona McNair.
