Institute Director Professor Andy Waters and Dean of Global Engagement (Middle East/Africa) Professor Paul Garside recently visited Zambia to establish collaborations and partnerships with institutions in the south-central African nation.

During their visit, Professor Waters and Professor Garside met with new colleagues from The Copperbelt University Dental School in Kitwe, Zambia, and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), Malawi.

As well as attending a number of meetings and presentations over the two-day visit, the iii pair held discussions before presenting the 'Scottish Cup of Friendship' - a UofG quaich - to new colleague Dr Chrispinus (Chris) Mumena.

Professor Garside said: "I would express my thanks to everyone from The Copperbelt University for our very warm welcome.

"It was great to see the facilities, and we are very much looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership."

Dr Mumena added: "We thank Team Glasgow and their colleague from Malawi, Dr Mwapatsa Mipando. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. We have just gotten started but are ready for the next step."
