The second Sustainability Showcase was held in the SGDB on 8th October. Suppliers StarLab, Thermo, Fisher Scientific, NEB, Merck, Qiagen, Avantar and SLS came along with a host of treats and prizes to highlight the sustainable changes they have made to their products and processes.

The event was very well attended, showing that sustainability is on a lot of people's minds when ordering products for labwork.

Many companies have adopted the ACT labeling system designed by My Green Lab so keep an eye out for this when purchasing products. Like an energy rating, it clearly displays the environmental impact of each aspect of the life cycle of the product and gives an overall rating, the lower the better.

StarLab cacti proved very popular as ever and many StarOne Tipboxes were able to be reused as plant pots after the event. The company want to highlight that although the TipOne recycling scheme is far better than these boxes going to landfill, repurposing them as a plant pot is even better and much more fun.

We hope that those who attended the event found it useful to chat to suppliers about their concerns regarding sustainability and found out about some interesting products which may be able to help them reduce their environmental impact.

Please take a few minutes to take this short survey where you can give feedback about the event if you attended but also highlight any products you would like to see available in MVLS Stores, even if you were not able to make the event.
