Classics at the University of Glasgow is pleased to invite applications for PhD studentships starting in 2016.

There are two types of scholarships:

  1. The SGSAH (Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities) Doctoral Scholarships funded by the AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership Scholarship scheme and by the Scottish Funding Council. These studentships cover fees for UK and EU students, and provide a generous stipend for UK students. Full details
  2. The University of Glasgow College of Arts Internship studentships. These scholarships are open to UK/EU AND International applicants; they cover fees and provide a stipend. See the University of Glasgow College of Arts webpage.

Please note that the internal deadline for these two scholarship applications is Friday 11 December 2015.

Please note that in order to be considered for a studentship, candidates *must already have applied to study for a PhD at the University of Glasgow* and have provided two academic references through the university’s application system. For more details see the University of Glasgow College of Arts Graduate School website.

Carnegie Scholarships are also available to Scottish-connected students which may be nominated for a PhD at Glasgow by a member of staff. See the website for Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland (deadline is end of February)

Research and supervision interests of our staff can be found here.

Interdisciplinary research proposals are also welcome.
