New research on child poverty in Scotland now underway

Anna Pearce’s new research, supported by an NIHR award, aims to evaluate child poverty reduction policies and identify ways to increase their benefits to health and reduce health inequalities.
Anna Pearce, recipient of the prestigious NIHR Population Health Career Scientist award, is launching a new project this summer focused on reducing child poverty in Scotland. Her research aims to explore how child poverty reduction policies can more effectively support child and maternal health and tackle health inequalities. A key component of the project involves creating an index to analyze the extent and distribution of child poverty across Scotland, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives like the Scottish Child Payment.
