3-year MRC-funded PhD studentships in trials methodology, including several supervised by IHW researchers, are now available for 2022
The MRC-NIHR Trials Methodology Research Partnership (TMRP) aims to improve health by improving trials, and the MRC Doctoral Training Partnership presents an opportunity to undertake training for a PhD in trials methodology.
3-year funded studentships are currently available for 2022 entry in various areas including statistics, data analytics and informatics, computer science, health economics, qualitative methods, mixed-methods, clinical medicine and psychology.
The MRC TMRP doctoral training partnership offers:
- Access to a broad spectrum of training and networking opportunities beyond the host research organisation.
- Opportunities to join relevant TMRP working groups and meet other PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and senior academic staff.
- A "core" training programme plus a range of more specific training that students may choose to attend following consultation with their supervisors.
- Research visits; internships with industry, regulatory bodies and clinical trials units; engagement with health professional and other research networks.
Projects include four supervised by IHW researchers:
- The application of surrogate endpoints in clinical trials
- Handling multiple outcomes in randomised controlled trials of complex interventions
- Predictors of early trial termination using individual-level participant data and aggregate-level data from multiple trials
- Improving the design of vector control trials
The deadline for submission is 18 February 2022 and interviews will take place in the week beginning 21 March 2022.
