HEHTA was delighted to host an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Glasgow Health Economics Seminar Series (GhESS) on 09 November 2023.
Guests were welcomed from the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), as well as the University of Edinburgh, Scottish Medicines Consortium, and economists from the Health and Social Care department in the Scottish Government.
The event began with a brief reflection on the seminar series over the past decade from Prof Emma McIntosh.
Melissa Pegg, a senior research consultant at the York Health Economics Consortium, and former MSc in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) student, then discussed methods of assessing environmental sustainability in HTA.
There were also presentations from three PhD students across the three partner universities: Mhairi Webster (GCU), Eunice Adwubi (University of Strathclyde) and our very own Tzu Jung Lai.
Finally, Prof John Cairns from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine delivered a very well-received keynote seminar on the use of quantitative decision modifiers in NICE technology appraisals.
It was a fantastic afternoon with diverse, interesting talks showcasing the excellent work being conducted in Glasgow and further afield. The GhESS team look forward to the next ten years after a successful decade of collaboration!
