Changeworks Energy Saving Workshop
Thanks to Scottish Intercultural Association for arranging this really useful and fully booked workshop in December to help people with energy saving advice. If you would like support from Changeworks for your organisation to help tackle fuel poverty across Scotland, you can get in touch via email:

Rock Around The (Community Knitted) Christmas Tree
Watch the unveiling and celebrate the fantastic community effort in this video.
This project has been a labour of love throughout 2024, inspired by Lorraine Waddell when we first moved into our new home at the Clarice Pears building. The tree frame was custom-made by Boomerang Woodworking in Maryhill, and its knitted and crocheted decorations were created by local groups and individuals. Through knit-and-stitch sessions, workshops, and donations, we brought the community together square by square to create something truly special.
We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed, including: U3A Knitting, Quilting & Stitching, Partick Library Knitting, Giffnock Library Knitting, Visibility Scotland, Empower Women for Change and also The Scribblers, Weekday WOW Factor, The Scottish Intercultural Association and of course, our staff and students. Thank you also to community choir, Vocal Dynamics who made the event so special as well as a visit from Santa! The tree will stand proudly in the Clarice Pears Building each Christmas, with its story shared as a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together.
Laughter Lives – public engagement event
Dr Simon Walker from our School’s Healthy Working Lives Group (HWLG) hosted a comedy night at the Glasgow University Union with local comedians, called "Laughter Lives." This event was free, with a suggested donation to Andy's Man Club, who partnered with the HWLG for the event.
December's Temporary Exhibitions
- In/Visible Model Boxes Exhibition. Common Wheel’s art project, Carnival Club, exhibited individual installations and held a launch of this exhibition in the Hub to meet some of the artist’s behind the miniature worlds. On the feedback doodle wall, one visitor wrote: "Amazing! I love the honesty and vulnerability of all the artists. The world needs this." All of the feedback was shared with the artists at the end of the exhibition.
- An exhibition by UofG Estates on the development of the Western Campus past, present and future in the Hub until the end of January.
