Self-Care Week in the Hub

Byres Hub took part in National Self-Care Week which ran from 18th-24th November, with a range of activities on the theme 'mind and body'.
In support of the School’s wellbeing priority in our Athena Swan action plan, Byres Hub again took part in National Self-Care Week which ran from 18th-24th November.
This year, we had a full programme of activities for staff, students and members of the public and a new visual tool to encourage people to make some time for self-care every day in partnership with COPE Scotland and their project ‘Confidence Counts: Self Belief Matters’.
We developed the tool with The Ideas Club and spoke to lots of people during this process, including our professional support staff at our annual School Away Day.
Everyone’s idea of self-care is unique to them but the examples people shared with us were often around Mood, Movement and Mind. Dr Nic Dickson used these themes in the lino printing workshop we did with the public to open up a conversation about self-care at Glasgow Explorathon.
We commissioned some illustrations through The Ideas Club as examples of self-care activities in the three themes. People were encouraged to collect their '7 days of self-care scorecard' from the Hub, and each day we had different self-care lunchtime workshops facilitated by researchers, community partners and members of the local community.
