The School of Health and Wellbeing Athena Swan Mentoring group operate in-school mentoring schemes with a particular focus on diversity and the equality aims of the Athena Swan programme. We welcome mentors and mentees from all job families and aim to assist mentees to make the best decisions for their future and aid growth and skills development.

What’s new?

We have warmly welcomed Anne Martin as Co-Chair (Research and Teaching) of the Mentoring Group.

Joining our existing Research and Teaching and Professional Services Staff mentoring schemes, an ECR-PhD scheme has been launched, and has arisen from students desiring someone who is not their formal supervisor to talk to, perhaps to discuss uncertainties, insecurities or worries that they do not feel comfortable exposing to the supervisory team. If you are interested in participating, find out more on the Mentoring Group webpages.

The University has recently launched a new Mentoring Portal, giving staff members the opportunity to look for a mentor outside of the school.

Thank you

Mentoring allows our school’s community to learn and grow together, sharing experiences and knowledge. It encourages inclusion and diversity in the workplace and is an effective tool in our school’s efforts to create an inclusive and supportive workplace culture. We’d like to express our thanks to all our mentoring community and encourage anybody interested in getting involved to get in touch!
