Senthilkumar Subramanian, a PhD researcher in the SET group, has won the Best Poster Award in the Physical Sciences category at the ELGRA 2024 Symposium, held in Liverpool from September 3-6, 2024.

The poster, titled Studies of Plume-Regolith Interaction in Martian Conditions, co-authored by academics from the University of Glasgow, researchers from Fluid Gravity Ltd, and the European space agency, presented key findings on how rocket plumes interact with the Martian surface during landing, a critical challenge for future missions.

Attending the event was made possible by the generous support of a UK Space Agency Early Career Research Scholarship, which enabled me to participate and share my work with leading experts in low-gravity and space research. The award highlights the importance of our research and increases the visibility of the Plume-Regolith Facility housed within the Aerophysics Laboratory at the University of Glasgow.

Under the guidance of Professor Konstantinos Kontis, ongoing research into plume-regolith interactions aims to understand better the challenges of landing spacecraft on Lunar and Martian terrain. This recognition strengthens the impact of the work and will foster new collaborations to advance our understanding of Martian surface dynamics.

Congratulations!
