The team is composed of undergraduate students who represent our partnership between the University of Glasgow and @University of Electronic Science and Technology of China). The project capitalises on one of the College's cutting-edge areas of expertise - 5G network tehcnology. Team leader Aodi Yang explains:

The base station is the core equipment of the 5G network and the key infrastructure supporting the intelligent transformation of the economy and society. As of 2027, the base station is expected to consume 16% of the world's electricity, and the RF front-end module is the core equipment of the 5G base station, and its energy consumption accounts for more than 80%, so the energy-saving core of the base station lies in optimizing the RF front-end module.

Based on the 5G RF field, the Tianyao Guoxin team's project implements the tenet of "high efficiency and low consumption", and is committed to making subversive changes to circuit architecture and creating a sustainable green home. They say "we will now do everything in our power to win the national competition's gold medal. Not just for ourselves, but also for the Glasgow College".

Results will be announced later this month. We wish them the very best of luck!
