At the 28th Annual Scottish Cardiovascular Forum I was awarded the Roger M. Wadsworth Prize for most significant contribution to cardiovascular research by a final year PhD student. This was awarded for my presentation titled “Extracellular Vesicle Derived microRNAs and a Genetic Risk Score for Identification of Atrial Fibrillation in Individuals with Ischaemic Stroke/Transient Ischaemic Attack”. I was very honoured to receive the award especially following all the other excellent work presented at the meeting and it was lovely to have the support of the rest of the Glasgow team there on the day. This award also meant a lot to me as Roger was the supervisor of my own PhD supervisor Dr Lorraine Work and from what I have heard about Roger, Lorraine has clearly learned from the best! I would especially like to thank Lorraine for encouraging me to go for the prize and for her continued support
