Christmas Quiz 2024
Published: 7 January 2025
The highly anticipated SCMH Christmas Quiz was held on the 13th November
This years SCMH Christmas quiz was held on the Friday 13th December and congratulations to “Feliz Navidad” (Eleanor, Martin, Gillian, Ashley, Anna, Kyle and Laura) on winning the much coveted golden pipette and title of “SCMH Quiz winners 2024”. This years quiz was a very tight competition.
A HUGE thank you to Lorraine for organising another great event and to our quiz master Scott.
Lorraine would like to thank:
- Most importantly, to Scott for putting together yet another fantastic quiz. I don’t know how you do this each and every year! Initial confusion over a movie round with only audio but it made sense. And of course, imagine how happy I was to have an Orcadian question feature
- Thanks to John for helping set up the room.
- To Margaret for supplying the tablecloths, cups, plates, bowls and napkins – especially when she then was unable to attend and take part in the fun, such a shame Margaret and you were missed. I am hoping that the box with the leftover unused bits and pieces will be down in the coffee room or in my office when I get in tomorrow as I forgot to gather this up at the end of everything!
- To Josie for periodically filling the “beer bucket” with ice over the morning on Friday. And also reserving a space for us in the Basement Bar once again – another karaoke takeover by the GCRC crowd, at least until “Deane” appeared but it didn’t stop us! We have some very talented colleagues (I do not put myself in that bracket!!) but you all know who you are.
- As Scott has said, thanks to Nic, Josie, Wai, John McA and Michelle for collecting entry fees from people across the various sites. It can get quite hard to keep track of but it all went very smoothly this year!
- Thanks to Wai helping me get the pizzas from Little Italy over for the break, 12 pizza boxes each was quite a high pile to see around!
- To everyone who helped with the tidy up operation once we had finished – I took the leftover booze up the stairs and then didn’t make it back down but even before I left, it always amazes me how quickly that room gets turned around again. So thanks to all those who cleared up the rubbish, took the bags out to the bins, shifted furniture etc. I’m hoping that the sandwich platters have been kept – no doubt they will magically have reappeared in my office when I go in tomorrow.
- Thanks to those who were unfortunately unable to attend but let me know in enough time that meant others got to take part in your place.
There was £70 remaining from the entry fees collected and it was decided that this would be donated to Social Bite, a Scottish based charity working with homeless people to provide them with meals and a bed https://www.social-bite.co.uk/festival-of-kindness/.
