At SCMH, we are committed to fostering a supportive, thriving work environment for all colleagues. Your feedback is essential in helping us understand your experiences, concerns, and aspirations. By partnering with People Insight, this survey allows us to gather the information we need to make meaningful improvements.

You Said, We Did

Based on your feedback from previous surveys, we’ve implemented several positive changes, such as:

  • Colleagues truly live the university values 
You Said: There was concern that not all colleagues are seen as living the university values. 
We Did: We believe our colleagues do embody these values, but we needed to showcase them better. To address this, we featured stories of staff who live the values in our newsletters.  Newsletter Link 1 - Newsletter Link 2 - Newsletter Link 3 - Newsletter Link 4 
Additionally, we are embedding the values more deeply in our work processes. Colleagues now align their objectives with these values in their Performance and Development Reviews (P&DRs)
  • Being Kept Informed (School & University) 
You Said: Information can be missed across multiple platforms, and there’s a lack of updates about both school and University-wide events. 
We Did: We're developing an internal intranet as a central hub for school-related information, news, events, and opportunities, set to launch later this year. We've also enhanced our newsletter with dedicated sections for university news. With the upcoming SharePoint site, we’ll keep you better informed about both school and University developments.
  • Understanding how my work contributes to the University strategy & seeing managers/leaders as good role models 
You Said: There was a need for clearer alignment between individual contributions and the University’s strategy, as well as better leadership role modelling. 
We Did: We’ve reintroduced a checklist for Performance & Development Reviews (P&DR) to ensure more meaningful discussions and how your work aligns with university goals. This will help ensure that contributions are recognised and valued, and that leaders are demonstrating best practices. 

How to Participate

Participating in the Colleague Engagement Survey is simple:

  1. Look out for an email from survey-invite@peopleinsight.co.uk on Wed 9th Oct.
  2. Share your honest feedback – your responses are 100% anonymous and confidential.

  3. Help us build a better university for everyone!
