Congratulations to Dr. Stefanie Lip for winning the Sir Stanley Peart Essay "A Tale of Diseases" award and the Rang Prize 2022 by the British Pharmacological Society.
Dr Stefanie's message on winning the Sir Stanley Peart Essay:
"I am delighted that my essay (“A Tale of Diseases”) was adjudged the winner of the Sir Stanley Peart Essay Prize 2022 awarded by the British and Irish Hypertension Society (BIHS). The essay topic was “What you would do if you had been awarded £1million to support a research project on hypertension, how the money will be spent and justification for the investment?” I developed my dickensenian essay by weaving the contrasting trajectories of two diseases of major public health impact – hypertension, known for over two millenia and COVID-19 that emerged two years ago, with the learnings and sacrifices from COVID-19 informing solutions for hypertension research.
I am grateful to Professor Sandosh Padmanabhan and Ms Clea du Toit for their deep insights that helped helped me produce a prize winning essay.
I am also grateful to HEART Research UK for funding my PhD project Vascular effects of SARS-COV-2 infection and long term impact on hypertension” funded by HEART Research UK. (RG2690/21/24)."
Dr Stefanie's message on winning the Rang Prize 2022 by the British Pharmacological Society:

This was for collaborative work done nationally through the NIHR / RCP training package ‘Getting involved in Clinical Research’ alongside my colleagues in Clinical Pharmacology.
