Congratulations to Dr Francis Burton who was presented with a Cardiac Safety Committee Recognition Award for 2022-2023 by the Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI). The Committee’s mission is to improve public health by reducing cardiovascular-related adverse effects from drugs or chemicals and develop innovative approaches to support early detection and prediction as well as improved understanding of cardiovascular toxicology and pathobiology. Francis advised on data handling and created an app for visualizing large volumes of data collected in a multi-centre study on chronic drug effects.

Jennifer Pearson, HESI Associate Director, wrote: “[we] formally thank you for your exceptional contributions to the Cardiac Safety Committee and the Stem Cell Working Group. Your dedication, leadership and effort on the Working Group projects have directly resulted in the success of the Committee. Specifically, your willingness to go above and beyond to assist with our recent data analysis was critical to the project.”
