A productive day at the Berkeley Street Gurdwara promoting diabetes awareness & cardiovascular health
Weekend outreach work has been successful for boosting recruitment to the Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance and exercise in South Asians (MIRSA) Study. On Sunday 8th January, Dr Angus Stirling and Janice Richardson were warmly welcomed to the Central Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Glasgow. They provided a cardiometabolic health promotion session including blood pressure and blood glucose checks, in addition to promoting the study. Dr Stirling is pictured with Pam Gosal MSP for West Scotland and the first female MSP elected to the Scottish Parliament from an Indian background. We are grateful to Dr Jasmeet Singh for coordinating the visit.
Other visits for Angus and Janice have included the Glasgow Central Mosque where one of our British Heart Foundation colleagues, Lyndsay Anderson, also delivered some CPR training which was very well received.
