Abstract
People try to influence the feelings of others in many of the relationships and interactions they share at (and outside of) work. In this presentation, Karen will be talking through her research on this process of 'interpersonal emotion regulation', focusing on the different strategies that people can use to influence others' feelings and which of these elicits the best results. She will also take a critical perspective, questioning whether individuals and organisations should be influencing others' feelings: what function does this process serve and for whom?
