Visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada strengthens ties through a Memorandum of Agreement on postgraduate double degrees, research, teaching collaborations.
Business School colleagues visit Universitas Gadjah Mada to strengthen ties through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on postgraduate double degrees, research, teaching collaborations.
Dr Belgin Okay-Somerville, former School Director of Internationalisation, along with Professor Sai Ding from Economics, and Dr Wenya Cheng, Associate Head of Economics (Learning, Teaching & Scholarship), visited our partner institution, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Indonesia recently.
A key milestone of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on postgraduate double degree programmes with Professor Didi Achjari, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business, and Dr Gumilang Aryo Susamto, Vice Dean for Research and Engagements. The Business School delegation also participated in a presentation at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance’s annual information session in Jakarta to promote the double degree programmes to staff. A Glasgow MSc programme alumnus was invited to share their experience, enriching engagement with prospective applicants.
In addition to formalising the double degree partnership, discussions were held on enhancing teaching and student mobility initiatives. Belgin and Sai led an information session on PhD programmes in Economics and Management. The visit also explored potential research collaborations between academics from both institutions, including joint research topics and staff mobility opportunities. Belgin and Sai also participated in the Faculty’s Research Day, where they presented their research and engaged with faculty members.
This visit has further strengthened the partnership between the Business School and Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada, paving the way for enhanced academic collaboration, student exchange, and joint research initiatives in the years ahead.
