The Glasgow-Nankai International Workshop on Trade, Productivity and Development will take place on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 September 2024 at the University of Glasgow. This 2-day event is jointly sponsored and organised by the Adam Smith Business School, the Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow, and the School of Economics of Nankai University in China.

This international workshop brings together distinguished scholars and industry experts from around the world to explore the dynamic interplay between trade policies, productivity growth, and economic development in China. As China remains a pivotal player in the global economy, understanding the intricate factors driving its economic transformation is crucial. The workshop is particularly timely, following China's Third Plenum in July 2024, which introduces key reforms and policies aimed at steering China towards sustainable growth and greater economic openness, significantly influencing the global economy.

Our esteemed speakers from China, the UK, the US, Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong will present their latest research findings, share insights, and foster collaborative discussions. These efforts aim to enhance our understanding and help shape strategies for engaging with China's evolving economic landscape.

This event is free to attend but registration is required.
