David Timis (Business and Management, 2014), has been nominated as one of WISE’s Emerging Leaders of 2023. WISE Emerging Leaders is a fellowship program developed by the Qatar Foundation for the next generation of leaders in education. Now entering its fifth year, WISE nominate social innovators who are delivering and designing exceptional educational initiatives and making a change in their organization or networks.
Timis’s work in Artificial Intelligence and the future of work has seen him selected as one of the 2023 cohort of Emerging Leaders, which consists of 15 women and men from 12 different countries.
“In a time when education is disrupted by multiple crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the burnout epidemic, and the ecological collapse, WISE believes it is ever more important to create stimulating and nourishing spaces for education leaders to come together, connect meaningfully, learn with each other, and collaborate for collective impact.”

After his nomination, the Business School Alumni Team caught up with David to ask how his experience at the University of Glasgow and the Business School shaped his journey.
"Having the opportunity to study at Glasgow University was a life-changing moment for me. It exposed me to a diverse group of students and staff members, to a variety of new ideas and teaching methods, and most importantly, it gave me the self-belief that I can truly achieve anything that I set my mind to” David told us. “I can firmly say that Glasgow University played a crucial role in empowering me to become the Global Shaper that I am today”
Congratulations, David!
