CfTE Online: Connecting Teachers with Research, Learning and Community
The Centre for Teaching Excellence (CfTE) continues to build momentum in supporting teachers’ engagement with research, professional learning and professional enquiry across Scotland. A key milestone in this work is the launch of CfTE Online, a bespoke digital platform designed to strengthen national connection and collaboration.
CfTE Online is the digital platform that underpins the Centre’s mission, offering a flexible, accessible space to support professional enquiry, collaboration and shared practice for Scotland’s teachers.

What is CfTE Online?
Rather than hosting information, CfTE Online provides a shared digital space where teachers can engage with professional learning, research and colleagues in ways that fit around their working lives.
The online platform brings together events, resources and discussion spaces linked to the work of the Centre and its Research Hubs, making it easier to participate in and contribute to nationals conversations and professional enquiry beyond individual events.
"As a class teacher, CfTE Online provides a clear platform to access a range of research-informed professional learning. The courses are flexible, with teachers able to choose whether to access only the key information or extend their learning through a range of additional resources."
What you can do on CfTE Online
Through CfTE Online, teachers can:
- Explore upcoming CfTE events and activities
- Access session materials and recordings
- Take part in discussions linked to CfTE Research Hub themes
- Share resources and examples of practice
- Contribute to growing professional communities
- Reflect on and log engagement to support PRD discussions
CfTE Online is designed to be accessible, welcoming and easy to use.
“CfTE Online was designed through partnership and dialogue, with contributions from the Centre’s Digital Innovation Team, University of Glasgow’s Information Services, Teacher Associates and Teachers in Scotland. Through listening to teachers as part of the platform’s development, we have aimed to create a digital space that truly belongs to the profession. As it continues to grow, feedback from teachers will remain essential to its ongoing development.”
Inclusive and accessible professional learning
Accessibility and inclusion are central to CfTE Online. The platform includes a range of accessibility features, allowing users to adjust preferences to suit their needs.
CfTE Online also supports Gaelic Medium Education, with dedicated Gaelic content and a platform which allows users to navigate the site in Gaelic.
