'What attracted to the programme me first and foremost was the curriculum: the mixture of courses from various disciplines such as urban studies, business management, political science and the emphasis on research methods. The best thing about the University of Glasgow is its people. The University breathes a liberal, pro-European and forward-looking spirit and has a fantastic body of students and staff from all over the world. Lecturers are there for you if you have a concern and are happy to help with guidance anytime. The city offers great museums, concerts, restaurants and proximity to some of the most astounding nature in Northern Europe make for a worthwhile stay that will not get boring.'
Aaron Gallant, USA (2015-16)
'I chose to pursue my postgraduate degree here because the University of Glasgow is known around the world for being one of the very best institutions of higher learning. It had the programme that I was looking for at a price I could afford. This programme gave me the chance to pursue career opportunities in a wide range of sectors — public, private, and voluntary. With a combined focus on policy analysis and organisational administration, the programme allowed me to build up my base of knowledge and gain the skills I’ll need in the global economy.
My studies also greatly added to my previous work as a legislative analyst for a member of the New York State Assembly by providing theories and practical methods that I can use in future jobs. I was recently employed by Social Work Scotland, the premier social work membership organisation in the country, to evaluate and craft public policies. I use the skills and knowledge that I learned at the University every day in my new position.
Glasgow itself is an amazing city. It’s one of the leading cultural and educational cities in all of Europe, and Glaswegians are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Glasgow is undergoing significant regeneration, making it the perfect place to study social and urban policy. I strongly recommend pursuing your studies in public policy and management here at the University of Glasgow because of the outstanding educational experiences it has to offer both in and out of the classroom.'
