Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme

In 2024 the University of Glasgow joined the Pan-European Seal Programme (PES), giving students access to a range of resources and opportunities provided by the European Union Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.

Through the PES programme, we may nominate high-achieving students to apply for a one-year, paid traineeship at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante or the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich. Trainees participate in a variety of professionalisation activities and events throughout the year.

The traineeship takes place in the year following the conclusion of the LLM studies, providing an excellent opportunity for the professional development of those interested in pursuing a career in the field of intellectual property.

The University’s shortlisting process takes place in January/February of each year, and nominated students are expected to apply for the traineeships directly with the relevant institution usually by March. Eligible students are shortlisted based on merit, considering class performance and engagement in extracurricular activities such as CREATe public lectures and events.

For any queries about the PES traineeships at the University of Glasgow, you should contact the programme director Dr Luis Porangaba.
