Short Description
This course introduces students to theories of management and leadership, using real-life examples to help apply your learning to your professional practice. In addition, it offers students the opportunity to engage with like-minded professionals and facilitates the sharing of good practice across various aspects of health services.

Course Aims
The aim of this course is to provide students with an introduction into understanding management and leadership within the context of healthcare settings, and to explore different ways of managing competing needs and demands with limited resources.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically assess the role of management and leadership in health services.
2. Critically evaluate the organisation and delivery of health care services, including inter-organisational issues.
3. Critically appraise the principles underlying the development of health services and health service policy.
4. Critically evaluate and apply the principles of quality assurance, clinical governance, and risk management in health services.
5. Critically appraise health intelligence data used in health service quality and improvement activities.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
