The First Minister has launched the Scottish Government's new economic strategy at the University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow hosted the launch of the Scottish Government’s economic strategy.
The University was chosen as the venue thanks to the close links between Glasgow’s scientific researchers and industry in Scotland.
As part of the visit, First Minister Alex Salmond toured a lab in Davidson Building, meeting with key scientists.
Accompanying Mr Salmond was Finance Minister John Swinney and Enterprise Minister Jim Mather.
They were introduced to Professors Gwyn Gould, Mandy MacLean, Graeme Milligan and Naveed Sattar and Dr Matthew Dalby.
Each spoke to the ministers and explained a little of the research they are conducting and the impact it has on the health and economy of the nation.
In his address to the media, the First Minister paid tribute to the work carried out at University of Glasgow and highlighted the important role research plays in the Scottish economy.
