ISMB/ECCB Conference
Published: 30 July 2004
The world's biggest and broadest Bioinformatics conference.
The University of Glasgow is designated as a 'co-host' for the largest and most important computationalbiology event globally, in 2004. For the first time ever the Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) will be held jointly with the European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB), in conjunction with Genes, Proteins and Computers VIII. The event will provide the broadest scope of any international bioinformatics conference held to date, and the first international conference to be held in the UK since 1995.
The hosts will be the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB), the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), the Collaborative Computational Project 11 (CCP11), the Scottish Bioinformatics Forum and the Bioinformatics Research Centre at the University of Glasgow. Chaired by Professor Janet Thornton, CBE, FRS, and Professor David Gilbert, ISMB/ECCB 2004 promises to bring you the very best of bioinformatics, from algorithms to zoology. This productive collaboration is between two of the worlds most important bioinformatics conferences ISMB and ECCB.
This high profile and prestigious conference will bring the international spotlight on Bioinformatics / Computational Biology firmly to the University. This event will help to highlight the wide range of related activities in the University, from Medicine, Biomedical and Life Sciences, through Bioinformatics, to Computing, Mathematics and Statistics. Professor David Gilbert, Director of the Bioinformatics Research Centre, will act as local chair.
