An exhibition of photographs by Neil McKellar
With the announcement that Neil McKellar will be retiring from his position as a part-time tutor in the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, there will be an exhibition of his photographs from 6-22 September in the St Andrews Building, University of Glasgow. The exhibition will be held in recognition of the contribution Neil has made to the department in the 40 years he has been with the University.
Among his achievements, Neil enabled the University to become the first in the UK to offer a photography course covering not only theory and practice, but also the study of the influence and interaction of other visual arts, including fine art and painting.
The exhibition comprises a selection of photographs taken during student field and excursion visits, both here and abroad. The photographs were taken using 35 mm slide film without filters or printing manipulation. The influence of Neil's Creative Images course can be seen in relation to his use of different art forms, music, painting, poetry and sculpture.
The exhibition will be on display from 6-22 September, 10am- 5pm, in Room 101, St Andrews Building, University of Glasgow.
