We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Career Framework and online portal specifically designed for Professional Services colleagues.

‌The Career Framework aims to support you in identifying your career aspirations, have meaningful career conversations, planning your development, and experiencing a fulfilling career at the University of Glasgow.

‌‌Our Career Framework provides a comprehensive suite of tools and resources to help you progress in your career:

  • Getting Started - Understand your readiness for your next step and identify what is important to you in your career.
  • Identifying Your Career Pathway – Explore and document where you want to take your career by examining illustrative career pathways and learning how colleagues have built successful careers at UofG.
  • Planning Your Career Pathway – Create your career plan and navigate your next steps.
  • Developing Yourself – Develop through "on the job” learning, “formal” learning, and “learning from others”.
  • Progressing Your Career - Prepare yourself for career progression, including finding your next role, building your CV, and honing your interview techniques.

‌In addition to the wealth of resources, articles, videos, and eLearning assets, the online portal features case studies with career tips and first-hand accounts from UofG colleagues, as well as additional guidance for line managers supporting their team members’ development.

To assist you in navigating the extensive range of resources within the portal, the “My Career Pathway Programme” guides you through the five stages of the framework with tasks and actions to tick off as you progress, as well as space to note your thoughts and reflections.

‌At UofG, we believe that our people are the heart of our institution. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment where all colleagues can thrive and reach their full potential, regardless of their role or career stage. Feedback from our colleague engagement surveys highlighted a desire among our Professional Services colleagues for more opportunities for career growth.

Our aim is therefore to provide a supportive environment where you can drive your development and career, with support and guidance from your line manager.

We encourage you to actively engage with the platform, explore the available resources, and utilise the career diagnostic tools. This is just the beginning – this resource will continue to grow with more illustrative career pathways and further linkages between pathways and development opportunities.
