UofG Social Sciences student, Olivia Carlin, is one of three Scottish university students to have won through to the final stage of the Marketing Society Student of the Year awards.

The Marketing Society Star Awards celebrate innovation, leadership and drive and recognise the work that achieves results and makes a real difference, both within the marketing industry and beyond. There are 30+ awards across the following categories: Development; Strategic; Communication; Sector; Champions.

The students were invited to an Apprentice Day event at Hudson where they took part in a range of tasks to show their strategic, creative and presentations skills as well as demonstrating their ability to show leadership and work well in a team.

Olivia, currently in her fourth and final year studying Single Honours Business and Management, will now attend the final Star Awards Gala Dinner on June 21 when the winner will be announced. She told MyGlasgow News: "“I am absolutely delighted to have reached the finals of the Star Marketing Student Awards.

"Taking part in the Marketing Society Scotland’s Apprentice Day was a great opportunity to meet new students from several Universities, and to be part of the winning team on the day was fantastic. I am thrilled to have now been shortlisted as a finalist, and I would like to thank my supervisor (Ms. Alison Gibb) for nominating me to participate in this event. I am really looking forward to attending the Star Awards Gala Dinner with the other two finalists in June to find out who has won.”
