Mark Mortimer has been appointed Executive Director of Research & Innovation at the University of Glasgow. He will take up post on 5 March 2018.

Mark is currently Director of Research & Enterprise at the University of York, where he leads a multi-functional team of 65 staff. He has also held directorships of a number of spin-out companies. He received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and an MBA from the Open University.

Mark was a postdoctoral research fellow at UCLA and Stanford before pursuing a career in industry and then the HE sector. He has particular expertise in supporting knowledge transfer activities and pre- and post-award research grant support. He works closely with academic leaders at York on the development and implementation of research strategy and policy.
