Jeanette Findlay, Senior Lecturer in Economics in the Adam Smith Business School, has made a ‘guest appearance’ as editor of a special issue of the Fraser Economic Commentary, which is produced by the prestigious Fraser of Allander Institute at the University of Strathclyde.

Jeanette’s special issue focused on the statutory framework for Scotland’s lifeline ferry services post-Brexit. You can read the publication here:

Special issue: Competitive tendering and Scottish lifeline ferry services. (pdf)

Dr Dania Thomas from the School also contributed to the issue.

In the special issue, Jeanette writes: “The considerable constitutional and legal uncertainties surrounding the future of the (ferry) industry is likely to persist for some time. In an attempt to bring some clarity to the matter, we have set out the possible outcomes which will arise out of the current review of ferry tendering and, in particular, we map out the ways in which other policy objectives of the Scottish Government might be more effectively achieved in the short to medium term, conditional on the outcome of its current review of whether ferry services require to be competitively tendered.”

For more than 40 years, The Fraser of Allander Institute Economic Commentary has been a leading publication on the Scottish economy providing authoritative and independent analysis. The Fraser of Allander Institute is a research institute of the Department of Economics and is part of Strathclyde Business School.
