University hosts local community for campus development update

Local neighbours and representatives of local community councils and Glasgow City Council were among the attendees of a community engagement event hosted by the University.
Local neighbours and representatives of local community councils and Glasgow City Council were among the attendees of a community engagement event hosted by the University last week.
The event, held in the Williams Room of the John McIntyre Building, offered an update on the University’s campus development programme and was chaired by Peter Haggarty, Director of Construction and Facilities Management.
The agenda covered:
- A general update, including the latest developments on the Learning and Teaching Hub site, the Boyd Orr Building and the Western site by Robbie Smith, Project Director;
- An update on construction by Multiplex Fergus Shaw, Construction Lead, and on Multiplex’s work to deliver community benefits by Caron Dunlop, Head of Community Engagement;
- A presentation on the purpose of the new Institute of Health and Wellbeing Building by Dr Sara MacDonald;
- An outline of the “Greening the Grey” project – an air quality data research project – delivered by Dr Larissa Naylor.
- An overview of the landscaping plans for the Western site, by Gary Wilkie of Arup.
The Q&A session covered a range of issues including parking provision, cycling lanes, litter and traffic calming.
