Glasgow Science Centre has invited The University of Glasgow staff and post-graduate students to attend the second annual Question of Science Dinner.
Speaking this year is one of Britain’s best known scientists, Professor Robert Winston. In celebration of the Olympic Games the theme is set to embrace and explore both sports and science. Professor Winston will be addressing the subject of genetics and the amount to which that affects a person’s physical capabilities and performance.
A champagne reception starts the evening where interactive exhibits will keep guests entertained such as one which measures reaction times in true sporting style. This will be followed by a presentation by Robert Winston, questions from the floor, and then a quiz which is delivered between the courses of dinner.
Last year brought together an audience of academics, corporate organisations, and consumer markets who participated in the event which Bryan Cox hosted. The evening is not exclusive to scientists with quiz rounds combining varied popular themes as well as science. Topics include references to pop music, television, film, sport, and current affairs among other which will give everyone a good cranium work out.
The winning quiz team will take home the Glasgow Science Centre Question of Science trophy, which will be passed on from last year’s winners, Coherent Scotland.
The evening is on October 11th 2012 and tickets for tables of ten are on sale at £900. The evening will start with the champagne drinks reception at 6.30pm and concludes at 11.30pm. Included in the ticket price is the champagne reception, Professor Winston’s talk, three course dinner and quiz.
