This week, Library Annexe Upgrade works will continue at Bute Gardens to the rear of the Library, on the main floor of Level 10 and in the Level 11 storeroom, next to the main floor.

Works will take place between 8am and 4pm, Monday-Friday, and there may be some intermittent noise during that time.

Quiet study spaces are available in the McMillan Reading Room and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, which offers a silent study area on Level 5. Find a space and check how busy each space is in the UofG Life app.

We thank you for your patience as these essential works progress. If you have any questions, please send an email to the Reach Out Library team or speak to one of our Reach Out Ambassadors in the building.

About the Library Annexe Upgrade Project

In November 2024, work began on a £23 million investment project to upgrade the Annexe of the University Library.

The Annexe exterior will be fully renewed, with roof coverings and wall cladding replaced with modern materials that increase energy efficiency and meet current technical standards. Annexe study spaces will also be improved, with more natural light, upgraded ventilation, better heating and cooling facilities, and more access to power.
