Lord Nelson's Monument
Britain's first public monument to Nelson was erected on Glasgow Green in 1806. The obelisk, which is 44 metres high, was designed by David Hamilton, the 'Father of Architecture in the West of Scotland'. It stands on a simple plinth and was paid for by public subscription.
