3187   Whanne I thought on the rose, that soo
3188   That was thurgh daunger cast me froo.
3189   A longe while stode I in that state,
3190   Til that me saugh so madde and mate
3191   The lady of the high warde,
3192   Which from hir tour lokide thiderward.
3193   Resoun men clepe that lady,
3194   Which from hir tour delyverly
3195   Come doun to me without more.
3196   But she was neither yong, ne hoore,
3197   Ne high ne lowe, ne fat ne lene,
3198   But best, as it were in a mene.
3199   Hir eyen twoo were cleer and light
3200   As ony candell that brenneth bright;
3201   And in hir heed she hadde a crowne.
3202   Hir semede wel an high psoune;
3203   ffor rounde enviroun, hir crownet
3204   Was full of riche stonys frett.
3205   Hir goodly semblaunt, by devys,
3206   I trowe were maad in paradys;
3207   ffor nature hadde nevere such a gre,
3208   To forge a werk of such compace.
